PrimeCooler Hypercool HC I+ / HC II+ - 3in1 HSF Review

Cooling/CPU Cooling by jmke @ 2004-06-08

Today we have 2 coolers from an upstart company called Primecooler in our labs which show a remarkable resemblance to the Zalman heatsinks. We set out to see how they perform, read on to find out if these Zalman look-a-likes are also perform-a-likes.

Conclusion

Conclusion

Looking through online stores for both products I found them to be priced quite low:

  • Primecooler Hypercool HC I+ ~$20
  • Primecooler Hypercool HC II+ ~$25

Now compare this with current Zalman CNPS-7000 prices:

  • Zalman CNPS-7000Cu ~$40+
  • Zalman CNPS-7000AlCu ~$30+

The expression “You get what you pay for” comes to mind, if you want good cooling at low noise levels and don’t might spending some cash, then Zalman has your ticket.

If, however, you are looking for a budget solution which offers you decent cooling then the Hypercoolers are definitively an option, the only drawback is the compatibility problem with certain AMD XP (S462) motherboards.

If price is an important factor for your next purchase then take a look at these new Primecooler products which offer you good value for your money.

    PRO
    Easy installation
    Price!
Good overall performance at high fan settings
Decent performance with less heat producing CPU’s
    3in1 HSF solution

    CON
Compatibility problems on certain AMD XP motherboards
Low noise + Overclocking not possible

We would like to thank Eva from Primecooler for the review samples.
