Shuttle XPC SH55J2 Barebone PC Review

The XPC Barebone SH55J2 is another interesting product from Shuttle in which we can install any Socket 1156 CPU, with or without integrated graphics, add a single or dual slot video card, turning it into a gaming system or a nice Media Center for our living room.

A Closer Look Part 2

Some of the cables we can see in the case right after opening it for the first time are pre-routed, like the SATA red ones:

Inside the metal piece where we can install the optical drive, there is a silica gel little bag, to prevent humidity while the case is in storage; the little casing, made of plastic, which holds the CPU heatsink and the fan has on top a embossed XPC logo:

On the other side of the case we can see the power supply mounted and the cables that come out of it:

Upon a closer look, we can see the full specifications of the 300W Shuttle PSU:

The VRM on the motherboard is covered by an aluminum heatsink which is fixed by push-pins:

Near the VRM heatsink, two USB 2.0 spare headers can be found:

The memory slots have near them the +12V 4-pin connector for the CPU:

The motherboard does come with a 20-pin ATX power connector, not a 24-pin one:

On the top of the CPU heatsink plate, we can see a sticker which warns us that the cooling system supports processors that consume up to 95W, which is exactly the TDP for the i5 750 CPU we are going to test the platform with:

The fan connector has 4 wires, which tells us its PWM type:
