ECS LIVA Q3 Plus with Ryzen Embedded R2314 Mini-PC Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2023-05-24

The revised LIVA Q3 Plus benefits from the much newer Ryzen Embedded R2314 SoC which features the 12nm fabrication process, has a core speed of about 100MHz higher versus the V1605B but does lack HyperThreading. Because of this, we noted a bit smaller scores versus the previous SKU in apps which need more threads such as encoding/rendering, but it really holds its own when discussing about 3D performance in games or other 3D applications, where the improvement is clear!

A Closer Look Contd.

In the front, we will get to see the Power button, which is also accompanied by a small white LED, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A ports but also one USB 2.0 Type A:

On the left side, we will get to see a ventilation grill, but also a microSD/SDXC card slot:

The opposite area does feature a Kensington lock port, but also a second ventilation grill:

In the back, we will get to see a HDMI port carrying the 2.0 version, so it can deliver 4K@60Hz, along with a miniDP 1.4. The DC-IN jack and the Gigabit LAN port can be also found here:

On the bottom, we will note four rubber feet, which are also the screws we need to remove to get access to the internals. The central sticker does show the product power rating, along with the manufacturing date and the SN:

The bottom cover can be easily removed to check out what ticks inside the machine:

The board design is like the one we found with the initial SKU, but now it also features the more powerful MediaTek MT7922 Wi-Fi 6E card for improved speeds (soldered on the motherboard):

The LIVA Q3 Plus does use two PCBs coupled together, the top one generating heat being cooled by a copper heatsink with fins and a 60mm fan:
