ECS LIVA Q3 Plus with Ryzen Embedded R2314 Mini-PC Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2023-05-24

The revised LIVA Q3 Plus benefits from the much newer Ryzen Embedded R2314 SoC which features the 12nm fabrication process, has a core speed of about 100MHz higher versus the V1605B but does lack HyperThreading. Because of this, we noted a bit smaller scores versus the previous SKU in apps which need more threads such as encoding/rendering, but it really holds its own when discussing about 3D performance in games or other 3D applications, where the improvement is clear!

Packaging, A Closer Look

In this article we are going to revisit a product with the same name from ECS, but now sporting a new-generation SoC; to be more exact, we are talking about the LIVA Q3 Plus mini-PC, that was been upgraded with a Ryzen Embedded R2314 (the previous SKU did incorporate a Ryzen Embedded V1605B which lacked Windows 11 compatibility).

The Ryzen Embedded R2314 does now feature a Zen+ architecture, build on 12nm and was introduced on 21 June 2022. It features four cores, four threads, a base frequency of 2100MHz, does support memory up to DDR4-2667, has 2MB of L2 cache, 4MB of L3 cache, while the iGPU integrates 6 CUs. The TDP range is configurable between 12 and 35W, ECS choosing to go with 15W in this case.

The ECS LIVA Q3 Plus is shipped inside a small cardboard enclosure, which integrates a box art we have seen at least two times before:

On the side, we will note technical details regarding all SKUs from this series can have; we can note here that only the R2314-based SKU is Windows 11 compatible:

Moving on, we will get to see the CPU SoC name, quantity of memory but also the eMMC size of the sample, on a sticker which also carries the SN:

After unsealing the box and lifting the top cover, we will get to see that the VESA mount is included!

The ECS LIVA Q3 Plus, besides the cardboard layer protection, it is also wrapped inside a plastic bag to avoid scratches during transit:

To sum it up, we do have the VESA mount, mounting screws, the power supply but also adapters for different areas:

The adapter is quite compact, which is quite surprising considering that in needs to power an entire computer!

The PSU is rated on the output as 12V at 3A, a total of 36W:

The cable ends up with a DC jack plug:

The necessary adapter can be installed in a matter of seconds:

The LIVA Q3 Plus is very compact at 74 x 74 x 52.1 mm and does also feature a very stylish design! The top cover is made of black plastic and allows for ventilation all-around, since the computer is also equipped with a small fan:
