CHERRY MW8 Advanced Wireless Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2019-02-01

The MW8 Advanced mouse is a good choice to be picked up while on trips along with your favorite laptop thanks to its long lasting battery and premium build. If you have all USB ports occupied, you can always use the product on wireless since all laptops now do incorporate BT interfaces as well. Compared to the previously tested CHERRY mice, this one houses a much better PixArt sensor that is able to track on all surfaces, including glass and its DPI can be adjusted in four different steps, in order to cover more usage environments: 600, 1000, 1600 and 3200 DPI.

A Closer Look Contd.

A closer look on the aluminum top shell does also reveal the machined aluminum lip; on the left side panel, we do have two extra buttons, but also a grey rubberized area that helps with the grip:

The right side panel looks about the same (since this is an ambidextrous model), but no extra buttons can be spotted this time:

The metallic scroll wheel does feature a top rubber layer and is silent in operation; nearby we do have the button, which assists users with the DPI steps, along with the status LED:

In the frontal area, MW8 Advanced does feature the microUSB charging port:

On the bottom, we can spot the laser sensor lens, two large PTFE feet, a switch that allows the user to switch between Off/Wireless/Bluetooth, a Bluetooth pairing button but also the WiFi dongle that is held with magnetic force:

The dongle is quite compact and can be left inserted while traveling in a spare USB port of our laptop:

In Bluetooth mode, the mouse will signal with a blue status LED for a bit; in pairing mode, the blue LED will blink:

When in Wireless mode, the red LED will stay lit for a little while; in charging mode, the red LED will stay on and only turn off when the battery charge is completed:
