Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB DDR4-2666 2x8GB Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2018-11-05

The new Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB do not disappoint by offering good performance and quite a bit of overclocking headroom; these are available with multiple speed ratings and 8GB/16GB densities per module. The LED lighting system is configurable in very much detail and we have the option to leave it run without the light bar for maximum LED brightness. The temperature sensors are a nice feature to have as well, that has been preserved from the previous generations.

The pre-programmed timings and frequencies can be also found by using AIDA64:

From the stock DDR4-2666 16-18-18-38 specs, we tried a bit of overclocking as well: by setting a voltage of 1.35, we have managed to climb the frequency up to 3300MHz and adjusted the timings to 20-23-23-48 in order to be Memtest stable:

Starting with the JEDEC 2133MHz, we did benchmark the RAM step-by-step up to its stock 2666MHz frequency, in order for you to spot the performance differences. We did also benchmark at the maximum stable frequency of 3300, but because of the increased CAS latencies, only some applications took advantage of the increased bandwidth.
