Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2017-09-20

If you are looking for a good quality wireless mouse and keyboard set and would like to use it for any activities except gaming, then you are in luck! B.UNLIMITED 3.0 from CHERRY does come with a very good battery life, a full-sized SX switch keyboard (low excursion) and an ergonomic ambidextrous mouse with two DPI settings that can be adjusted without any extra software. Its low sell price is another strong point of this product, the B.UNLIMITED 3.0 kit being available for just about 63 Euros (rechargeable batteries included).

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

After trying out the affordable CHERRY Stream 3.0 keyboard in the past, it is now the time to look upon another set of peripherals from the same manufacturer, that belongs to the same price segment. Indeed, we did mention that this is a set, because it comes with both the keyboard and the mouse, ideal for distribution with entry-level PCs, useful for media center PCs and is also great for productivity purposes in offices.

B.UNLIMITED 3.0 is entirely wireless, both keyboard and mouse connecting to the same USB dongle; the data between these is transmitted with 128-bit encryption, in order to comply to Advanced Encryption Standard.

The combo is shipped inside an all-white cardboard enclosure, the product name along with the manufacturer logo being colored in black, for a better contrast:

After removing the seal, we can lift the top box cover, in order to reveal the documentation, along with the keyboard; the rest of the bundle is held inside a separate, plain cardboard enclosure:

The supplied manual is multi-language and does contain usage instructions; the setup is though pretty straight-forward, so all people would should be able to get the setup up and running in no time!

When taking a first look at the B.UNLIMITED 3.0 keyboard, we do remind ourselves of the Stream 3.0, with the laser etched keycaps and the specific texture in order to obtain a nice grip. The keyboard is a full-size model and the top cover is made from a single piece of plastic:

The added elements can be considered the calculator, email, home and lock buttons in the top right corner; we have no NumLock, ScrollLock or CapsLock indicators here, the only LED being the battery charging indicator one:

Under the Spacebar key, we do have a nice Cherry logo applied:

If we do look on the lateral of the keyboard, we will get to see how thin it is, thanks to the used SX switches; these switches are similar to the ones we can find with many laptops and have got a short travel but also a very low noise when actuated:

In the frontal area of the keyboard, there are other extra interfaces, with one exception:

In the vicinity of the charging LED, we will be able to spot an On/Off button, along with the charging port:

If we do look on the back of the keyboard, we will get to see an all-black plastic shell, with a central sticker:
