ROCCAT Skeltr Smart Communication Gaming Keyboard Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2017-02-27

The high-end Skeltr keyboard from ROCCAT does come with dome switches and besides the regular RGB LED customization and macros we can find on regular products of the same type, we do also get integration with mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. With the ROCCAT Swarm application installed, the mobile device acts as a secondary display for system monitoring, we can configure the keyboard on-the-fly, take calls right from our desk but we can also type directly to the gadget via Bluetooth connection.

A Closer Look Part II

The removable wrist rest is adding an extra layer of flexibility, making the Skeltr usable even on smaller office tables:

On the bottom area of the wrist rest, we can see two long rubber layers, which will keep the assembly stable on the surface it will sit on:

ROCCAT Skeltr does feature an all-plastic chassis with a modern design and is quite light in that regard:

A closer look on the top left side will reveal the dedicated buttons for taking phone calls, but also for switching between mobile device audio and PC:

The first set of function keys do also double up as multimedia controls; F4 though can be used for opening the frequently used Calculator application:

Moving on, we will spot an additional set of multimedia keys:

F9 doubles up as a shortcut to “This PC”, F10 does open the default Internet browser, F11 can be used for adjusting the LED brightness while the F12 key is utilized for recording Macros on-the-fly:

The top right corner does also house the NumLock, Scroll Lock and Caps Lock function LEDs, along with the Bluetooth connection LED:

This is not all! We will also get to see the button for switching between the mobile device and PC (type to device), but also a dedicated button for opening or closing the ROCCAT Swarm configuration utility:

A separate set of five Macro keys can be spotted on the left side of the keyboard:
