iconBIT NetTAB MERCURY Q7 (NT-3602M) Smartphone Review

Mobile/Smart Phones by stefan @ 2013-11-14

Mercury Q7 is the large 6.5’’ smartphone from iconBIT, which sports a Cortex A7 MTK-6589 Turbo processor clocked at 1.5GHz, PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, 1GB of DDR3 memory, 8GB of NAND Flash for applications (with expansion up to 32GB via microSDHC) and a 13MP camera. The offered Android revision is 4.2.1 and for having longer standby times the manufacturer has also packed a large 2800mAh Li-ion battery.

A Closer Look Part II

The manufacturer also includes a screen protector which is to be appreciated:

The Quick Guide will offer us more information regarding the product before the first use:

Compared to regular 5’’ mobile phones (in this photo we have the Xperia Z), the iconBIT Q7 is quite big; when going from store to store in order to find a suitable protective cover for it, the people were quite surprised by its size and most of them were not able to help us in our quest. The only case we have found sporting about the same dimensions was available for a 7’’ tablet, but even then a lot of free space did remain inside it with the phone inserted so it was not an ideal fit:

When the Q7 is photographed by itself without another item for comparison, it does not seem that big; the phone/tablet is available in white color and has some design lines similar to the Mercury XL (which would look as a dwarf phone compared to it):

On the lower side of the screen we can see the curved shape of the casing, along with the Menu, Home and Back buttons:

On the top side of the screen we will be able to spot the speaker, the frontal camera but also two sensors: one for proximity and the light sensor:

On the laterals we will be able to spot the chromed frame; the left side has a smaller Power/Sleep button:

Further down we will find a small opening to fit the nail in order to remove the back cover:

On the bottom we have one microphone hole along with the microUSB port; because of the slightly angled plastic frame, some regular USB cables won’t fit:

The left side is equipped with the Volume rocker:
