The Travelstar 7K1000 from HGST is a speedy and silent HDD that should fit in most laptops (has a height of 9.5mm) and offers 1TB of storage at our disposal. The drive features Advanced Format and also best-in-class shock tolerance.

Nice drive. Incremental performance increase is good but of course it's not a screamer by any means. I estimate that sequential transfer rates double for every 6x of density increasement and because density has stayed the same for years now, you would have to wait forever to get any significant performance boost versus these current drives.
It could be another year before WD releases a 2x500GB platter 7200RPM laptop drive who knows

I hope Seagate doesn't stay with the news that they are ditching 7200RPM laptop drives. I want a 1TB 7200RPM hybrid drive with 16 or 32GB of flash memory!
