Looks like it performs well over the stated 420Watts output, and hope the retail version performs as the tested unit. This kind of quality product will provide a strong signal to the way below standard manufacturers. The question now is how much?

Sarcastro 27th May 2004 18:35

When I saw it announced on XS I was quite sceptical on where it came from. To my belief it's being made by a company in China, which also produce the ToPower Power supplies. But now I've read the review and I'm not really sure anymore. Liquid, is there any chance you could take a pic of the box?

The PowerStream 420 arrived in a clandestine plain white box as retail packaging most likely isn't finished

godlike psu!

Xploited Titan 28th May 2004 20:01

How does it compare next to an Antec TrueControl?

The Senile Doctor 31st May 2004 09:54

could really use some adjustable rails here :(

TeuS 31st May 2004 10:05

have you already opened the PSU to check for pots?

The Senile Doctor 31st May 2004 10:07

I should, but that means taking this pc down again, and I don't feel like doing that

Why is there nothing about the noise it produces in this review.
I want only silent PSU's

eva2000 4th June 2004 08:16

The PowerStream 470W i have here is virtually silent... i did some preliminary testing using Antec Power supply tester with 25W Load and Digital Multimeter

Out of the box - Green LED
3.3V = 3.417
5V = 5.19
12V = 12.19

Lowest dial - Yellow LED
3.3V = 2.874
5V = 4.48
12V = 10.65

Highest dial - RED LED
3.3V = 3.83
5V = 5.61
12V = 13.28

Borderline Green LED (just above Yellow LED)
3.3V = 3.156
5V = 4.7
12V = 11.32

Borderline Red LED (just above Green LED)
3.3V = 3.452
5V = 5.29
12V = 12.65

Green = within -/+ 5% range
Yellow = lower than -5% range
Red = higher than +5% range

some good info, no matter what the load, the rails can all be adjusted to fit the situation :)

Xploited Titan 4th June 2004 09:12

Like on a TruePower :D Too bad Antec completely screwed up the design of the front bezel :( I'll need to make a new on which suits my case :grum:

jmke 4th June 2004 09:14

I find the Antec design to be quite okay actually.

Xploited Titan 4th June 2004 15:24

Too much plastic alike imo and it's too dark to match aluminium cases...

jmke 11th August 2004 09:33

does this quote look familiar Liquid3D ? :)

calimero 22nd August 2004 20:20

I've read that those ocz have no PFC :huh:

TeuS 22nd August 2004 21:58

PSU's sold in Europe are required to have a PFC, either passive or active.
