Make your own FanBus

Quote:

If you want to clean out that cable mess in your case there are several ways to solve this problem. Buying a FANbus is one of them. But if you are interested in saving a penny I'll show you how to make one yourself, hey it even has the option to "select" the fan speed! :)

i made it a little different :)

jmke 4th January 2004 22:24

Jakkerd's way is more univerals I think :)

[Bonbon] 4th January 2004 22:34

how are you gonna connect fans that have a 3 pins plug ?
3pin system is also faster when you plug/unplug your fans a lot , and no need for a screwdriver.

jmke 4th January 2004 22:36

you can't use the rpm monitor wire, so might as well cut it :)

[Bonbon] 4th January 2004 22:42

teus showed it can be done :)

jmke 4th January 2004 23:06

talking 'bout your design ;)

SantaSCSI 16th August 2004 20:34

Nice job. I considdered making a fancontroller myself but i'm not that handy. I think iI can handle this one.

But one question: Is it still possible to manage your fanspeed?

TeuS 16th August 2004 20:51

that depends, what does "to manage the fanspeed" mean to you?

SantaSCSI 17th August 2004 16:22

Well, I wanted to change the speed of my fan (in RPM) or a possibility to chose between 12V, 5V and off.

TeuS 17th August 2004 16:45

well, you can put the fan tail in another plug even while the machine is still running
