Koolance Exos Watercooling

Quote:

A while ago, I tested the Koolance PC2-C watercooling solution. Today, the Exos system has landed on my desk. The PC2-C is a complete case with watercooling, but the Exos lets me choose my own case with the benefits of a complete watercooling.

:bash: almost forgot to congratulate you on a great article

question1: Would you consider buying one as you have that "noise" problem or would you choose a custom solution ?
question2: Installation in one hour ? Seems mighty fast.
question3: Is the Exos fastened to your box or is it just placed on top ?

my side of things, as I was there when he installed the system:

Q3: there were large Velcro’s in the package, so you can secure it to up to a certain point to your case.
Q2: the installation wasn’t rushed or anything, less then 1 hour when working at a steady pace if very feasible in my humble opinion
Q1: Don’t think it can cool down my 172Watt pelt :)

:ws: bicker

Good to know the Exos is silent, i didn't expect that from 3 80mm's. :) A pitty about the price though, you can build your own, more powerful watercooling for less.

yes, but you don't have the plug & play capability with that one!

1) I still haven't disassembled it :D
2) -Going to shop for better clamps: 1 hour
-Disassembling mainboard 10mins, putting cooler on cpu 5 mins, cutting tubes and mounting 15 mins, mounting mainboard and periphals 15 mins, filling and bleeding 15 minutes > 1 hour
3) not permanent fixed but easy to do soo, one can buy straps as an option (did mention it on page 1 I believe)

Bosw8er 13th May 2003 09:31

I suppose the tubes are going from the top trough an opened PCI-"gap" at the back. Aren't you creating a possible danger of bending the tubes too much this way ?

Nice review :o But could it be possible to show a pic of the back of your case? I'm wondering how far the tubes come out of the case. Are they attached to the case or just hanging from the top till the pci-slot?

tubes don't stick out further than any other cable thanks to the springs in above picture, I didn't attach them to the case since this is review material and I din't want to cut them all up to make it a nice fit.

Corsair HydroCool 200 - review
http://www.overclockers.com/articles746/

Looks good.

Performance on par with Exos at 100%

jmke 13th May 2003 20:30

Koolance EXOS: 0.23 Fans at 100% power
Corsair HydroCool 200: 0.24

vewwy small lead for the EXOS :)

biCker 14th May 2003 00:22

a shame corsair doesn't answer my mail for a reviewing sample :(

I need a sound level meter thingy, after a few days usage the noise is starting to bother me again, it is still silent but I guess I'm getting spoiled. From what I make of the Corsair review, this makes less noise??

edit: but still, since I'm using the Exos I can hear my Seagate cuda IV spin

jmke 14th May 2003 00:39

dBa meters @ www.velleman.be , can be expensive for accurate equipment :(

piotke 14th May 2003 17:38

and rato is ignoring my mails...

TerAngreal 14th May 2003 17:45

neih, they're just a bit lazy over there ...

Bosw8er 14th May 2003 17:56

You should go there and ask them what you want. I think they are very helpful.

To all:

I am currently running the Exos [have been for about five months] with the fans @ 100% using a mildly overclocked AthlonXP 2100+ [@1.76 ghz] on an Abit KX7-333R mb. Using two 'shelf hangers' it is mounted to the side of an AMK 24 inch OCD case. I pipe outside air to the unit [cut a hole in the bottom of the Exos] using clothes dryer tubing. The highest temp I have seen [using Hardware System Monitor software] during video rendering is 40 degrees C] with the air entering the unit at 30 degrees C.

Works Great!

What a pain having to buy a block(s) as weel, after you've just spent € 330 ! You would think they could include a block at that prize !
