so to answer your question, yes even after 7 hours load the Ninja will keep your CPU cool.

Exams coming up, need silent pc, just placed the order.

Products
1 x Arctic Silver 5
backorder € 6.90
1 x Arctic-Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev.3
backorder € 18.90
1 x Papst 4412 F/2GLL - 120 mm
backorder € 14.90
1 x Scythe Ninja SCNJ-1000 Plus
backorder € 44.90

Now i need a big (and silent) case. Too bad the Stacker has an open left panel.

Anything smaller than a maxi chieftec with 8 hdd bays won't work. Preferrably fully 120mm, but i don't think a LianLi case is worth 250€. It'll be trashed and scratched anyway when going to lans etc.

Maybe this one?

or this? it's cheap... too bad it's 92mm

I don't care about installation and all fancy railsthings etc. Once it's installed, it stays there.

7x HDD with enough 5.25" to place extra ones there

3 dvd writers, rheobus and audigy bay need to be fitted, i can sacrifice one writer. All the rest has to stay :/

No free expansion slots over there, i'm starting to think it's impossible to find a good and affordable case.

on the + side, it looks good, it's decent, silent, 3 silent fans included, rubber grommets for the hdds.... and it costs 135€

i meant this one btw:

but those 5.25 => 3.5 spacers cost also money. and it's way to fat, nearly immobile.

it has rollers?

teki 23rd May 2006 10:31

Yeah but our wooden stairs won't like that :) And my mom won't like scratched off paint in her new hallway :)

Anyway it's a really nice roundup, great comparison, and my stuff has nicely arrived. Purely based on reviews @M.

Btw: My Scythe Ninja has a 120MM fan included?

jmke 23rd May 2006 10:50

Yes, the Ninja Plus is the only version they sell now, it comes with its own fan. I have that fan in review for review so I can compare it to my Papst and see how it does, if you feel adventurous, maybe you can beat me to it ;)

for the rollers, a small strip of rubber over the whole wheel should remove risk for scratches

teki 23rd May 2006 15:24

No way josé :)

I had to install the 120mm after attaching all the sata and power cables to the hdd's in that chieftec hdd bay. Space left: 3cm to maneuver those tiny bars for the fan in the hole.

One weird thing, i got a spare part for the NV silencer.... an 'L' shaped metal 'thing' for the memory i presume, but on the back it's useless, and the front already has thermal stickers.

You didn't use it either.

jmke 23rd May 2006 15:30

it's for videocards with memory chips on the back :)

teki 23rd May 2006 15:44

Excellent, then it's done.

System up and running for about 2 hours now, 1 hour of cpuburn, one on each core,

42°

That leaves some room for a 24/24 7/7 oc of my x2 3800.

7800GT is working nice with the silencer, optimal frequencies detection went up to 484 / 1.12ghz.

jmke 23rd May 2006 15:46

hmm not quite impressive, reference is 450mhz.. met beetje volt mods (pencil ahoy) en beetje zelf overclocken heb ik 7900GT zien gaan tot 600+Mhz :)
