guess which heatsink this photo is from; winner will get the HSF in question when the roundup is done.

picture has been photoshopped slightly to makes things more challenging :)

my guess is one of the Noctua ones, as all others do not have such a pronounced corner

but I have no use for it

It's the Tuniq Tower 120.

But I have no use for it either  , maybe for my far in the future A64 system.

I do miss the Thermaltake Big Typhoon, I've heard many good things about it.

in the webnews there is a review that seems reliable stating the Freezer PRO performed on par with the Typhon on a 1MB chip with high clocks and voltages

While I still think it's partially due to the fan setup of the case as well, it's still impressive for the price. So I'm waiting for the Madshrimp results, even tough I already ordered one for my new computer.

please read the note about the required orientation of the Freezer PRO, as I don't know wheter you test inside a tower or with the motherboard flat on the table (which would result in bad performance)

I'm testing inside a case (Antec Sonata 2) with 1x120mm fan at rear running at 5V. Passive Silverstone PSU for power. Temperatures results are quite HIGH so far, mainly due to passive PSU, upside is very silent system!

How is the fan orientated? Is the freezer blowing to the rear fan, psu, graka?

It surprises me a bit to hear that it's running warm (I assume it's running warmer than the rest of the HSF's), because I hear a lot that it get quite close to the TT_BT.

So you don't happen to have a 120mm or bigger fan PSU which would be more realistic as I doubt the majority has passive PSUs (price, low power).

Also a case with 2x120mm fans would be nicer, since that is the way the industry is going atm.

But it's very nice to see you're trying to get a realistic test :super:

I'm going for a silent system, noise in room without anything running is 33.5dBA, at 50cm from the side (not front, not rear!) I'm currently at 35dBA with XP-120 + Papst 120mm @ 12v

an AcoustiFan dust-proof series 120mm at 5v is running in the back, none in the front ;http://www.acoustiproducts.com/en/ac..._dustproof.asp

all heatsinks tested are orientated to blow to the rear of the case if possible, the Freezer 64 (None-Pro) is aligned to blow upwards, the "Pro" is blowing to the rear.

to give you an idea of what I mean by "running hot"

Athlon 3200+ @ 2420Mhz - 1.7v! vcore
room temp ~22°C
XP-120 + Papst @ 12v : 67°C

almost all heatsinks for far are going above 60°C when trying to go "silent"; the Passive PSU is really stressing the system, it removes a lot of noise but heats up the test inside a lot too; you give some, you take some. in my testing here: http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...&articID=2 86 the same can be seen when adding the passive PSU, CPU temps rise 7.5+;

advantage of the Sonata is the rear 120mm fan, and it removes a lot of hot air, keeping the system temp at normal lvels; only the PWM and CPU area are stressed extremely now.

when I first saw all these high temps I panicked, I've been re-testing whole Sunday and today from 17:00 until now, I thought I had bad mounting, bad thermal paste, incorrect sensor.. and what not... but no matter how many remounts/other thermal paste/etc the results are identical each time.

I have not seen a CPU cooler review inside a case with passive PSU yet, have you?
