[10:39:35] - Connecting to assignment server
[10:39:36] + Could not authenticate Assignment Server response
[10:39:36] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[10:39:36] - Error: Attempt #8 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

on all PC's I tried :/

anybody else have similar problems? I sure HOPE so, otherwise it means F@H over here is pretty much over...

PCs @work?

jmke 12th July 2004 12:26

Yep; can have 6x 2.6 HT P4 running before the end of the day.. if I can get new WU's... :(

Vulk 12th July 2004 12:38

I had some problems sending wu's the last days but eventually they were sent.

wutske 12th July 2004 13:36

have no problems. Maybe a firewall somewhere in the network ?

jmke 12th July 2004 15:03

it worked perfectly for the past 2 months

ctgilles 12th July 2004 17:09

Problems here too @ 13h08

But 171.64.122.124 was the only one that DID work for me :)

pepe 12th July 2004 19:56

Had simular problems.
Sometimes shutting down and restarting fah helped othertimes rebooting the pc helped.

kr15t0f 12th July 2004 23:57

never had that problem, but a few days ago I had a very nice problem. A WU was send, but EMIII said it wasn't send. And I think (I'm not 100% sure) that my WU was submited twice. I had a thinker after that WU and the next day 46 point where in my stats of that day, without sending a new finished WU.

jmke 13th July 2004 08:28

problem still persists :(

I also got that @ school once.

Install it , copy it on a different location and try to run it then.
After a few times , mine worked.

jmke 13th July 2004 11:25

none of the 7+ PC's here can get new units, installed and reinstalled about a dozen times now :/

very strange idd, and you can connect to internet etc? firewall accept? I don't think you forgot something like that, so it's very strange.

187(V)URD@ 13th July 2004 12:12

see in the logs when your fah doesn't download anymore , like last yesterday around 7.35h or smthing and maybe you can work it out or find the problem.

I just copied my folding@home folder and runned it on a other partition disk and that worked for me.

I hope you can fix it.

I assume that you can use mozilla/internet explorer ?

jmke 13th July 2004 16:03

inet through proxy is working perfectly. getting new WU's since monday is impossible.. it's possible they started block port 8080, but I have no clue :/

Maddy 13th July 2004 18:16

Maybe you should try http tunneling, just to check if thats the problem offcourse :D

http tunnel
Code Guru

jmke 13th July 2004 18:48

thanks! I'll try it out tomorrow!

jmke 14th July 2004 10:24

I got it to work after installing 2 custom softwares thanks to http://www.overclockers.com.au/folding/HTTP%20Proxy.htm

and the HTTP Tunnel proggy from Maddy

unfortunately the client no longer runs hidden and it's quite a bugger to install + HTTP tunnel soft is not free.. blah!

anywhooo.. this reduces the amount of PC's I can use for F@H here to.. 2 I'm afraid :/

but looking at the stats since Sunday evening when the PC@work stopped folding, it seems output has not lowered that much.. if any.. http://www.foldingatwork.com/team.jsp?teamID=37249

making me believe that I need to manually upload the finished WU's at work every day.. which is quite a bore at 16kb/s :-/

ah yes.. btw, cheapest HTTP Tunnel license limits transfer speeds to 1.5kb/s ...

jmke 14th July 2004 11:12

bah. it stopped working :-/
back to zero.

So it's for sure a proxy thing then, something recent ?

jmke 14th July 2004 16:07

it worked okay before I left on holiday :/
they changed something alright, but I have no means of finding out what.

company is too big for me to have any influence in their rules concerning firewalls/proxy.

Hack them !!!

nah I hope you can fix this or work your way up so you can install on all comps :p

wutske 14th July 2004 16:19

ask what has changed and find a workaround ?

even asking what has changed in impossible :/

there are over 50.000 PC's @ work.

Sidney 14th July 2004 18:30

Frustration with big corporations; good adminstrators are harder to find than many many think.

I always say why change or do anything if we cannot measure it; sitting down with a glass of beer at least you can relax.

Remember the guy did the CV review and miss quoted; I tried contacting him over a month with no reply..... after you forward me the news/press releases I got his review for posting. One sentence email to him.... got the thing corrected within hours.;)

jmke 14th July 2004 18:51

oh.. I have no doubt they are quite good at the job they do, I don't question that at all. F@H has no place in the bizz word, so I have no rights to ask any favours there.

if for a "legal" change of the firewall/proxy it takes 2-3 weeks with approval of several managers, then I know my question will never get passed through

jmke 15th July 2004 08:45

until I find a solution I'm folding OFFLINE with some of these machines, 3x 2.6 HT and 1x 2.53 P4's are now crunching on 91 point gromacs, takes ~37 hour for 2 WU's with one 2.6 HT, not splendid, but okay I guess...

jmke 15th July 2004 10:05

back in business..well.. sort of

kr15t0f 15th July 2004 10:23

lol, I got the last few weeks WU's that doesn't get recognized by EMIII :( and they're all gromacs of +-20 hour and I don't know the point, but I think its very low.

Now I got this one. p262_ch3cn

jmke 15th July 2004 10:25

p262_ch3cn 152.00 GROMACS

kr15t0f 15th July 2004 12:19

where did you find it?

jmke 15th July 2004 12:27
