Joris 27th April 2003 22:02

I also noticed that 2 persons did, I think that's stupid because it spoils the fun, I had alot of fun creating that in paint for several hours, also frustations ;)
As long as the crew notices it, I'm ok with it.

EDIT : Also something I noticed :
Rules state :
**What dimensions should the image have and what format?
Maximum 640x480 and saved as JPEG.
mynamesnotjohn : BMP
asgneto : BMP
Vorex : GIF
T-power : 782*640 (I know JMke changed it to JPEG but it's not his job to resize them ;) )

Also very important in my humble opinion is that you should state everything in English. Why? Well what happens if I wan't too look at the other entries and I don't understand Dutch? I can understand that if you do not speak/write/understand english very well, that you put it in Dutch. But a small effort is always appreciated. But anyway, who am I to say this ;)

I'm not here to play jury, but if the rules are applied, then those are already out of the competition. It's not really hard to correct this.
Also, I might be wrong on this one but hell, I think it's the point to create a good looking case with paint and add comments on what you did to improve your chances :

"adding a description on what you changed/added and how you would do it if you won the case can increase your chances of winning"
"Visualise how you would modify this plexi case"

I should keep this info for me and give you guys less chance but I'm a good competitor, and I a good winner/loser more loser because I lost often :D. First thing I won since few years was with [M] and it got lost in the post. Thx to Teus for giving me another one.

:ws: to the [M]crew

Peristaltiek 28th April 2003 16:34

zo ehm geen engels = gedisqualificeert? mijn nederlands is al niet goed end mai engliesj is ievehn worze!

Evangeliz 28th April 2003 16:59

Nope but you stated that your english sux monkeyballs ;)

I'm not even judge of this, just merely stating the problems ;)

the only reason why we are using the .be domain mostly is because we have full rights on that domain :)

omg, never wished for this discussion.
I was only pointing this out.
As graemem is from Edinburgh
and Rik_ from Sidney.
I suppose that they do not understand Dutch ;)

Vorex 28th April 2003 20:39

i posted a bmp, and it didn't show up, so i saved it as a gif and reposted.

Vorex 28th April 2003 20:41

oooooooo shyt, i thought the rules said to post a bmp, i am an idiot.

Evangeliz 28th April 2003 20:46

Would be painfull to be disqualified for such a dumb thing.
Ok I'm sure the crew would keep it in mind, because of the "small" numbers of participators.
Anyway, I hope I helped a bit ;)

Vorex 28th April 2003 21:03

Hopefully :)

Stryker 29th April 2003 14:47

here's my humble entry

original (had to resize it due to rules, details are more visible in the orginal though :/
meh, its not like its got a chance, just a test run for my wacom i guess

jmke 29th April 2003 14:47

ps: where is da case? ;)
:^D

Stryker 29th April 2003 14:48

fixed, it was JPG instead of jpg :/

jmke 29th April 2003 14:50

still can't see the case :)

Stryker 29th April 2003 14:50

thats the clue of it all, but i can see i'm the only one getting the joke, i always do that really :p

jmke 29th April 2003 14:52

seriously: great paint skillz :)

TeuS 29th April 2003 14:54

why do you participate in a contest for winning a case if you're not going to need it anywayz :p

Stryker 29th April 2003 14:57

i've been using an aopen case for two years, i could use something new :p

TeuS 29th April 2003 15:00

why teh hell are you participating in a case winning contest, do the effort drawing in paint, to win that case AND DON'T USE THE FRIKKIN CASE

some ppl are real stupid:wtf:

Stryker 29th April 2003 15:09

its a gag picture not a real representation :p

Evangeliz 29th April 2003 15:09

You can always use a case like that ;)
If you have a boring case, and you put this in place of the boring case that would rock.
Also, if you have a simple case, I guess the airflow sucks, but with this one the airflow looks pretty good.
If you only have a lianli for example then I would not understand why you participate, but if you have a simple case, why not ;)
I'd put my server in it, then I could get it out of the corner and put it in the middle so it would be noticed :D

veder 29th April 2003 19:35

ok this is it. Nothing special , you think. Well that's because paint doesn't work with see through colors.

I like a plexi case that is painten with a special black see through paint, it's a special kind of lac. It's is also metallic and shiny
The [M] is in the same paint but mat.

In combination with the CCFL's in the case it gives a weird effect (maybe using some shiny elements like mirrors, that i do not know yet :p)

the panaflo"s are modded with very bright leds using the tutorial on the madshrimp site

CDROM, psu, Rheobus are painted in the same paint as the case.

FreeStyler 29th April 2003 23:37

Well I don't have paint installed so words will have to do.

Since I hate light in my room, no CCFL or ultra bright LEDs.

Just strip anything that canbe stripped (CD's floppy, HD if possible) and replace all needed parts with plexi.

Add some acent lighting with LOW intensity blue LEDs.

Paint the bottom black to create a faint mirror image.

Make it a HUGE EMI source (no one in my block will have FM reception)

Peristaltiek 30th April 2003 19:34

tidom tideee (peter pan-song :o )

i'm getting exited

lazybones 30th April 2003 20:43

I would first start of with a big motherf… blowtorch.
And reshape the plexi in to two fishbowls then I would take a can ore 5 of silicone and fill the holes. Then I would drill a big hole in both fishbowls; then I put a tube in between the 2 and spend another 5 cans of silicone to get it waterproof.
This I would fill up with fluo blue water and drive to the diy shop to get another couple of cans of silicon. When I return the tanks are empty again because of the leaking, so now I can go on putting the rest of the silicon on. And filling everything up again. On top of the tanks I would put (in plexi of course) a sort of bridge where I can attach the dvd+-rw and the harddrive with hotglue.i think I’m gone use the same method to attach the powersupply. For placing the mb I’m going to make a mixture of hot-glue, superglue, acceton, breakfast serial, milk, and papier-mâché in combination with the blowtorch, this should hold it in place. On the bottom I’m going to place a really big blacklite, and shine 2 self-made spotlights on they’re with 3000 really bright led. To cool the thing I have a 1000hp airplane engine lying around that should do it.
Afterwards I will train the fish to splash water on the heatsink.and dipping the mb in my really hot chilly saus, it can isolate my thong from my mouth so it would do nicely isolating the board. Hope I win.

if you are Wondering , yes this is made by Paint :D :D

sorry for the english

runob 30th April 2003 22:46

[FONT=courier new]runob presents:

 The [M]AD case

And so god created water, so why not use it? Combining the functional and estetic values of water resulted in this case that
- has got a killer look
- has great perfomance
- is super silent

The look
The front window has got a 1 cm thick plexi logo, [M]AD], glued on to it. The log itself has been matted on the inside to differentiate it from the rest of the window. Inside the case are 3 red laserleds the shine towards the logo making it the centerpiece of the case. Finally as cherry on the cake there's a waterfall running equally all over the front plate. Because of the relief a superb effect is created that will amaze everyone. On the bottom of the case there is an open plexi reservoir that will collect the falling water. On the sides of that reservoir there are another 2 laserleds giving the water a mysterious red look.

The performance
The waterpump and waterreservoir from the window also have a second function: watercooling. The CPU and gfx card are cooled with the same water. The waterfall serves as the radiator. Because of the huge surface the water will cool down very quick. This low temperature allows the enthousiast oc'er to go to the edges of watercooling solutions.

The silence
The system is almost completely fanless: cpu, gfx card and radiator are in no need of any fan. The power supply should be opened to allow it to cool down without the use of a fan or the fan can be replaced with a supersilent fan. As a bonus you get the relaxing sound of falling water which is all the feng shui way allowing you to come to peace with yourself.
