Your Entire CD Collection In Your Pants Pocket Removing the top cover of the case reveals Hitachi's tried-and-true technology, in the shape of a 4 GB Microdrive. In Archos' case, the HMS360404D5CF00 model is used. It has a 1" platter spinning at 3600 RPM. The Hitachi drives' temporary memory storage, at 128 kB, is a far cry away from current 2.5" notebook hard drives, which sport caches of up to 16 MB. http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/20050505/index.html |
my entire CD collection does not fit on 4gb to give you an idea, I have ~80 CD's in my car for starters:) |
Love mobile or long commute ;) |
I'm 7min from my current workplace now :) so those CD are less frequently used, in new car I'll have MP3 player, so that'll cut down on quantity of media also:) |
how much cds would you get on 1 gb? in very good quality mp3 |
Good MP3 quality is 160-192kbps, which means 4min is ~8mb filesize. ~7 CD's |
In my case, about 5 megs to a song = ~200 for 1GB |
how am I gonna fit my 4000+ cds, 500 lps and all the rest on that crap?! :) I'm currently making a selection of best tracks off every cd, should take me 6 years :D |

I keep my originals at home, my CD changer has a tendancy to scratch disks, not a pleasant experience :( |
