| Wireless Providers To Disable Stolen Phones 'm not sure why it took so long to come up with something like this but I am glad they finally did. Makes you wonder how many phones are going to go dead on day one, doesn't it? The system announced Tuesday relies on a centralized database that officials hope to be operating within six months. The database will record smartphones' unique identifying numbers. That way, wireless carriers that receive a report of a stolen smartphone will be able to recognize the device and block it from being used again http://www.hardocp.com/news/2012/04/...stolen_phones/ |
