Why is my Intel CPU Overheating?

HardOCP got this send it: "We run a PC repair shop. The other day one of our customers brought his PC in and says it keeps rebooting and the CPU temperature is very high. He told us he has always built his own PCs and that he knows what he’s doing, yet he can’t figure out what is wrong."

afaik the heatsink was mounted on the cpu (check the TIM on the CPU) :)

Maybe if he had used a second HSF on that top vent as well then his CPU wouldn't be getting so hot...

Obvious joke. You can see the circle of thermal paste from the heatsink on the cpu :)

That's obviously adhesive paste, to better hold the HSF to the side of the case once mounted....
