WC: Radiator Fan Stacking Two fans are better than one, but with a noise penalty. I received a number of emails asking to see if I could show what happens when another fan is added to a radiator - this gives two fans in a push-pull configuration. For a radiator with a 120 mm fan profile, this can yield some benefits in increased airflow - question is how much? http://www.overclockers.com/articles1155/ |
Very similar to my own experience with stack fans on heatsink; then, I also received many people who don't agree.;) |
why dont try rad fan rad fan :D wind tunnel with 2 fans |
That would be "double sides pull and push" short of any good term versus push and pull single sided, again short of any better term.;) |
Well, it's obvious, have one person pull a desk, have another person then push the desk at the same time, easier, isn't it? ;) Pure logic. But it's true, doubling the number of fans of same type (same sound level here) adds 2dB I think to the whole setup. Thus, on my Thermochill 120.3 a Push-Pull setup of Medium Panaflos will increase my setup's noise from 45dB to 55dB. :puke: Now, that's why I'm watining for a rheobus :D |
