better then outlook : don't know, only had outlook 2000 stores in a file on a lcation you specify yes folder + rules = ok |
how fast is it to browse through stored messages? is the mbox mail format a lot faster? Outlook in general with its PST is quite slow ones you have over 10.000 messages |
... and the .pst consumes A LOT of space also Try it out (installation and import < 10 min), couple it with the superbe calendar app/extension and you'll have outlook2003 ... only better i wrote a small howto some time ago ... http://www.madshrimps.be/forums/show...?threadid=6671 |
I don't use the calendar, but will check out the email reader, thanks! |

not that much difference in my humble opinion; let's see if searching goes more efficiently |

how can I mark all my messages as READ ? I don't find the option.. have now over 16000 mails marked "unread" :( |
right click "postvak in" and then "map als gelezen markeren" |
yes very funny; I'm not going to "right click " mark as read on all my 174 subfolders... |

U make a new subfolder every week? |
with currently 22000+ mails; I don't think 174 is that much I make a new subfolder for every important contact to keep track of previous conversations in an easy way I'm going to stick with Outlook 2003. It offers better "rules" manangement and in combo with Google's desktop search is much faster for searching through mails. |

double negotation error must be "with currently 22000+ mails; I don't think 174 is that much":) |

I just tried something. If he moves te 174 subfolders to the folder inbox. then he can mark them all as readed. |

I can't read my messages. It's just blank space. :( |
|
I've had it with Outlook 2003; it corrupted me .PST beyond repair; scanpst.exe finds 2 folders (I have over 200 now) and although file size is at 700Mb I see no mails after the scanpst :( my latest backup of my PST is from 02/02 this month; I haven't lost any emails though, as gmail is working fine:) so Thunderbird here I come |
Didn't you have a daily backup script ? ;) |
yes I had; and it worked fine yesterday; restored the corrupted .pst and it was working again. However today the file got magically corrupted during my absence (? I'm suspecting the AV virus scan or auto defrag) and backupscript happily copied the corrupted outlouk.pst to the remote location. luckily have a 3rd backup which I run almost weekly ;) it's Outlook's PST format which truly and utterly sucks :puke:. At previous work about 50% of all email issues were related to corrupt PST files |
