Texas Memory Systems Reveals 15% Price Drop On Enterprise SSDs

Whenever a new SSD drops, that always catches our ear. But whenever we hear about solid state drives getting cheaper -- that really catches our attention. Texas Memory Systems has been a name that we're hearing more often these days, and the company is about to get a ton of eyeballs after announcing that they have selected Toshiba in order to leverage new technology and "reduce cost of SLC SSDs." Cheap and SSD in the same sentence? Sing to us!

TMS has decided to integrate Toshiba's next-gen 32nm SLC NAND Flash chips into their products, which allow the company to "lower the price of its flagship RamSan-630 by 15%." Of course, anyone familiar with TMS will know that their products are exactly consumer level, nor are they cheap to begin with, but a public 15% price dip has to be good news for the consumer in general. The new 32nm SLC Flash chips from Toshiba are the smallest and highest density enterprise-grade Flash chips readily available today and are compatible with existing Texas Memory Systemsí RamSan-630. The technology allows Texas Memory Systems to maintain the same capacity within the RamSan-630 with fewer components and is passing the cost savings onto its customers.
