Tesla's mass-market Model 3 enters volume production in September
 

Volume deliveries set for 2H 2018

On Wednesday, Tesla said that its upcoming mass-market Model 3 sedan is now expected to start limited volume production in June and will reach volume production by September. The $35,000 vehicle is a major step for a company marking a transition from being a small niche manufacturer to a mass market electric vehicle manufacturer.

The company’s update on Model 3 production was given as it posted a wider-than expected fourth quarter loss for 2016, though its sales turned out a bit higher than expected. Revenue for the quarter was $2.28 billion, up from $1.21 billion the previous year, while the company lost 69 cents per share on a non-GAAP earnings results.
