![]() | ![]() Taiwan’s law enforcement agencies seized another 75,000 suspect Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CPUs as well as 25,000 fake ST (STMicroelectronics)-brand flash memory chips, while raiding Atop Electronics on March 8, according to police sources quoted by the Chinese-language Liberty Times. The police had previously seized 60,000 suspect AMD CPUs from Hao Hwa Technology (transliterated from Chinese), a customer of Atop located in Tainan, southern Taiwan. The police raided the headquarters of Atop in Chungho, northern Taiwan, as well as 14 business outlets of the company and its customers after AMD filed a lawsuit against chairman of Atop, Chen Yue-han, for selling stolen products and infringing on AMD’s intellectual property rights. The 75,000 suspect AMD CPUs are worth about NT$600 million (US$19.4 million) and the 25,000 suspect ST flash memory chips are worth NT$200 million (US$6.45 million), the paper said. Engineers dispatched from ST have checked out that the suspect ST-branded flash memory chips are forged products, the paper said. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20050309PR202.html
