Icon17 Sparkle adds TEC Cooling to nVIDIA 8800GTX

Taipei, Taiwan - November 9, 2006 - SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd., the professional VGA card manufacturer and supplier, today releases next generation firepower by announcing Calibre P880+ GeForce 8800 GTX and Calibre P880 GeForce 8800 GTS video cards. With unparalleled gaming firepower and high efficient TEC active cooler system for aerospace integrated, the two new flagship products from SPARKLE, Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards elevate hard-core gamers' experience to the next plateau of DirectX 10 era.

Based on NVIDIA's next generation G80 architecture, The new Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards are the world's fastest graphics cards. They adopt NVIDIA innovative G80 unified architecture, dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations, delivering up to 2x the gaming performance of prior generation GPUs. Built upon technologies such as NVIDIA Lumenex Engine, providing support for DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0, NVIDIA Quantum Effects technology for physics computation and GigaThread Technology for extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.

Besides all these advanced features, Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards are fused with the high efficient TEC active cooler system co-developed by MACS Technology Inc and SPARKLE, which creates your ultimate gaming experience. This high efficient TEC active cooler system co-developed by MACS Technology Inc and SPARLE absorbs aerospace technologies used in NASA's space shuttle cooling territory. It employs aerospace technologies such as thermal transducer, aerodynamics, heat transfer and embedded software control for cooling the possibility of overheat problem on G80 GPU.

This high efficient TEC active cooler system includes thermal electric cooler, quad heatpipes and dual 8 cm fans to create your ultimate gaming experience. The thermal electric cooler (TEC) utilizes the Peltier effect to dissipate a lot of heat, especially while overclocking. It takes advantage of an IC (transducer IC) to produce a cold source that lowers the temperature of the G80 GPU. A transistor sensor placed near the GPU detects the temperature of GPU, while software monitors the overall temperature on the video card. When a certain temperature is reached near the GPU, the transducer will turn on the cold source. When the GPU is in idle mode, the transducer will turn off automatically. The dual 8 cm fans fan push the hot air to the exterior of the card via the quad heatpipes, thus completely eliminating the heat remaining in the video card system. To minimize the sound from the fan, a special exhaust cover isolates the noise. The high efficient TEC active cooler system prevents the heat from negatively impacting the system components, like the CPU, hard disk, and motherboard IC chips. It has effectively solved the GPU overheat problem, without increasing the noise.

Due to this high efficient TEC active cooler system, Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards deliver ultra-realistic DirectX 10 gaming experiences and unparalleled image quality without compromise to heat and noise. Compared with 80℃ working temperature and 42db working noise level from GeForce 8800 reference video cards, Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards can promise 60℃ working temperature and 29db working noise level. Thanks to lower working temperature and lower working noise brought by the high efficient TEC active cooler system, Calibre P880+ and Calibre P880 video cards have amazing oveclocking capability with longer usage life and 3 years warranty.

I think someone's marketing department was burning the midnight oil. :P But it's a nice looking idea...

I'm still a bigger fan of BFG's WCing idea here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/8800_Series.html Your choice of WC fittings, and they even use Arctic Silver TIM...
