AMD Sempron 2800+ & 3100+ Review

AMD has just released its latest processor line, the AMD Sempron. The Sempron is designed to replace the Duron line of lower-performance, inexpensive processors aimed at home and business desktop users. Available in both Socket A and Socket 754, the Sempron offers good performance for its price, and has good potential for overclocking

xp's were going to go up in price and something else was going to go down in price but they were basically the same processors only I don't remember what that "something else" was exactly.

Are it these semprons?

I remember there was a thread about this ...

something else is the A64 series which has come down in price

Darn it, I or we knew about Sempron for sometimes, and now the pricing is very attractive for OEM. With 333 FSB rather than 266, it will really take the market share from Intel Celeron.

So, I put some money in AMD stock, and sh_t, I just lost a bunch; like giving away 100 Sempron. Well, it will come back in a few weeks, I hope.

I know but it wasn't that... oh well, nevermind :)

I don't realy see a reason to buy these chips. They perform great, but for the same money, you get a better CPU (Sempron 2600+ cost as much as a Barton 2500+).
The slower ones are, slower, but hell they are cheap
:o . Let's now hope they OC well.

the A64 3100+ Sempron IS interesting, good overclocking + low price make it a very interesting chip.

A difference of about €30 is not that much, plus the socket 754 will be replaced by the 939. So, to me, it's better to wait for a cheap S939 Sempron (since those 939 CPU cost waaay too much for me :( )
