It was just a few years ago that the most extreme computers sucked the life out of 1000 or even 1500 watt power supplies. While a few of those PSUs are still around, we've noticed a shift in the power supply paradigm the last year or so where more money is spent designing greater efficiency and implementing better components versus stretching out the wattage. Perhaps it's due to the fact that most processors, motherboards, and video cards consume less power today.
