Recycling Your Thru Board Heatsink

When I opened the box and was looking over the layout, I realized that I had not checked the heatsink mounting info before I ordered the board. Damn! No through-holes on the board to mount my trusty Alpha 8045. Well, if you knew me, you would know that this is not a great problem to overcome. I make my living doing industrial machine design and upgrades

Alpha PAL8045 with Socket clips! :)

Did the same for a boxed P4 heatsink.

My Duron 1600 Applebred is kept cool by a boxed intel cooler from a 2.4G
Works like a charm, load temps are 53 degrees when it's 26 in there. Forgot to say that I reduced the speed of the fan to 25% with speedfan and in idle it goes to 10%.
Temp never got over 55.

In normal condition that would even be 45.

you did this and never told us? :)

I was not [M] at that moment and it was not such a big deal ;)

But if you want I can create a sort of howto ;)
And take some pictures

the bitbender guys beat you to it :)

But they have been beaten many times as I got my info somewhere else offcourse ;)

And this is for an Alpha with the mounting holes, mine is for a P4 heatsink.
You can't compare both. I mean Alpha for AMD on an AMD and A P4 heatsink for P4 on AMD.

not repeat that last phrase 50 times:)

send me an email with pics/text and I'll work my magic:)

And last but not least.

I didn't use a miling machine, didn't need to weld anything.
I only used a dremel.
