Phenom will become new AMD Athlon

AMD has big changes with K10, including a new brand. Over the next two weeks AMD will slowly begin to introduce its new brand name for high end desktop CPUs. The brand, Phenom, will succeed Athlon on all K10 offerings. Dual-core Agena processors will be labeled as Phenom X2; quad-core Agena as Phenom X4. The halo products, Agena FX and its family, will receive the brand name Phenom FX.

The name isn't important, the performance is. At Cebit Ian Mcnaughton (prod manager 64-FX cpu's) showed me and my collegae a preproduction sample in the meeting we had.

It looks te same as a normal 64 bit amd but Ian assured us that the 4 cores fitted inside. Unfortunatly we where not allowed to take pictures. Something I find a little strange but hey he's the chief I was just happy to be there.

Let's say I'm a colleague from a gamingsite. I do the hardware overthere. Nothing fancy like on madshrimps but we try our best.

Hehe, idd I'm from gamesplanet. Got a lot of contacts but not enough crew to do some fancy stuff. So I'm **** out of luck. But I try to review some standaard stuff from time to time.

if you ever need a "crew" ;)

Tempting offer Jmke. Maybe we can work something out in the near future. The only thing I'm not prepared to is to give up Gamesplanet. I'll think about how we could both work together.

gamesplanet is Dutch... I think it can be easy to work things out, email me if you're interested;)
