Newcastle-under-Lyme, 30th of March 2012 – The new comer in the cooler segment, PHANTEKS, has already proven with the PH-TC14PE, that a long and intricate development is worth it, as the unit with its special surface coating is still the number one on various cooler charts. With the PH-TC14CS a second series is introduced, with a top-down cooling assembly - once again with the same unique surface coat in four different colours.

PHANTEKS expands their special range of products with the PH-TC14CS, offering a useful alternative to a tower cooler. While the principle of a top-down cooler is nothing new, the PHANTEKS cooler combines the utmost performance, with increased compatibility and a much lower height, enabling its use in compact computer enclosures.

Even so, the unit offers an incredible amount of cooling performance while looking beautiful from every angle. The performance takes a voluminous array of fins and thick heatpipes as a base and adds two fans to the mix. Even fully equipped, the PH-TC14CS only measures 13.8 cm in height, 15.6 cm in width and 14 cm in depth, as the two 120 or 140 mm fans sandwich create a sandwich around the cooling fins, with one placed on top and the other below the array of high-quality fins.

Two matching PHANTEKS PH-F140 with a span of 140 mm are part of the package. Five thick, 8-mm heatpipes made of Copper and coated in Nickle transport the heat from the base of the cooler to the coloured Aluminium fins. These do not only look much better than those of other manufacturers, but also manage to impress upon closer inspection.

One is the “Cold Plasma Spraying Coating Technology“ (C.P.S.C), which increases the surface area at the nano-level on the surface of each separate fin. This increases the overall dissipation area, further reducing the temperatures. This technology is even more important at all connecting points between cooler base, heat-pipes and individual fins, as these traditionally tend to be the weak links in the chain of heat dissipation.

But the second technology is the surface to enhance thermal conductivity by the name of “Physical Anti-Oxidant Thermal Shield“ (P.A.T.S). This surface reflects heat coming from surrounding hardware like the graphic card, chip-set or memory instead of adding to the temperature of the material. This technology is especially beneficial in a closed system in which such a cooler is traditionally used instead of open testing stations.

The two included 140 mm fans are coloured to match the rest of the impressive cooler. Besides the large dimensions of these fans, which already allow an exceptional amount of air movement whilst generating very little noise, PHANTEKS has engineered the fins in such a manner to further increase the fans efficiency.

The resulting 130 m³/h at a mere 19 dB(A) is certainly not a statement to be taken lightly, but PHANTEKS also includes a PWM adapter, with which both units may be controlled by a single 4-pin PWM connector on the motherboard. Thanks to the high-quality UFB bearing, the overall life span of these are an impressive MTBF of 150.000 h.
