Still the best browser available :woot: . The new skin isn't what I would call beautifull, but it probably fits better in an Aero interface.

You weren't kidding, that's a completely new look. First boot took a bit to load properly... am testing it now. :)

I'm a big Opera user however I'm not too happy with this release.
I was browsing with several tabs open and decided to check the opera memory usage.

To my horror I noticed that it was using over 300mbytes with only 5 tabs open. This is of course unacceptable, I'm pretty confident that this is due to a memory leak.

I tested with just opening google.be and entering a search string. I opened taskmanager to check out memory consumption.
Eventhough the loading was done I kept seeing the memory usage go up in regular intervals at a steady pace. Obviously a memory leak.

The regular Opera used to do the same thing for me, until I manually removed "Automatic" Memory/cache control and it stopped over micro-managing the memory.

Right now I have 7 tabs open and have been using the browser since my previous post. Memory size is fluctuating, but actually decreasing. It was 202MB, now that I finish this post it is at 198MB and alternating between .792 and .800. I would suggest you try removing "Automatic " memory size and change the disk cache to 50MB in your Preferences -> History tab.

I tried this with varying success. Memory usage goes down every now and then but it is still way more than the previous version of Opera. I used to love Opera for its small memory footprint.

Now it's 1 tab, 202Mb and rising (google only). Meanwhile using 25% of a dual core Core2 cpu.
I upgraded from opera version 9.27.

Now after typing this text cpu usage is 50% so one whole core and memory usage 300mb.

Obviously if Opera is eating an entire CPU core then it broke and it would explain the memory leaks, and at this point you need to close it to fix it. I would suggest you then reopen it, clear Opera's disk cache, and set it to use 40MB/50MB for the RAM & HDD respectively. Close it out again, then give it another shot. Usually if I set to large a cache Opera would eventually start sapping an entire CPU core by thrashing the caches.

I have 36 tabs open, everything from java to heavy flash websites. Total RAM usage is 418mb and CPU usage has been sitting at 0%, with a rare change to 5%.

I will say that so far I am noticing many websites that displayed correctly on 9.27 that no longer display correctly, mostly the overlays are in the wrong positions now and things overlap. I may switch back as 9.27 worked with almost all websites, whatever they did to earn 83% for the Acid3 test broke compatibility with many mainstream websites. You are also very correct, 9.27 would use less than 200MB of RAM with 28 open tabs. This new version is a RAM hog. According to one Firefox user, FF and IE still are much worse though.

There indeed is a problem with memory usage. Closing tabs doesn't free up any memory, altough it did free up some memory when it reached 112Mb.
Now it's using 89Mb with 2 tabs open.
No problems with layouts and cpu usage.

//edit:291Mb with 16 tabs of which 6 are for a 10 MP photo, closing them all and it drops to 130 :)

I tried all that already, no cigar...

Looks like I'll be skipping this version at home, which is where I'm at now. With the same tabs open with 9.27 here at home I note a memory footprint of 24 mbytes.
So yeah 9.50 being a memory hog is the least one can say I'm afraid.
