Default Nvidia has 1.5 Million 8600GT in stock

We've heard that this 1.5 million number includes both DDR3 and DDR2 based cards and trust the source. At this particular time it won't be that easy to get rid of them, and earn decent money at the same time.

even at €50 these cards will be hard to sell, if you know:
9600 GT €120
9500 GT <€100

another give-away?

the 8600 was a ripoff right from the start and the enthusiasts knew it, so NV failing to screw people over deserves some extra humilation

I so don't agree with you on that. The 8600 GT was considerably faster than 7600 GT in new games which are shader heavy, and at price well below $100 it offers the end user the option to build a game system for not a lot of money.

at this point in time with the 9600 GT released and 9500 GT pending the 8600 GT is not that interesting unless they really drop the price.

But 6 months ago the 8600 GT gave you quite a bit bang for the buck

On Planet Rutar perhaps, on planet Earth the 8600 GT and mobile 8600M GT were well received

At launch, the 8600 cards were a big ripoff. Maybe not as bad now that prices are more reasonable... but with 9600GT so cheap, still perhaps overpriced cards.

Then
8600GTS $200-250
8600GT $150-200

Now
8600GTS $100+
8600GT $75+
9600GT $125+

incorrect timeline there, the 8600 GT was below $100 already Summer of 2007 waaaaay before the 9600 GT launch.

And up until the launch of 9600 GT the 8600 GT remained very interesting.
The 8600GTS was never a good product, price wise, I agree there.

the 8600 GT however was maybe launched at $150, but took few months only to drop below $100 and become very interesting, beating the competition and older generation products with ease.
