if that'd be stable, that would be one helluva setup for not a lot of money, IF you don't take the 1000+ euro prommy2 in the equation... with the prom, it's damn pricey anywayz...

jmke 27th December 2003 11:51

even at default speeds it is a kick-*** machine :)

RichBa5tard 27th December 2003 12:14

At best (presuming that cache is the only difference between Newcastle and FX), AMD is offering two sockets and two mobo types. If AMD somehow cripples a socket 939 Newcastle, you'd end up with two sockets and three mobo types.

The first is acceptable, the second isn't.

Price is reasonable, but then I would have to buy new memory and a heatsink I guess.
Should my memory be sufficient? It's twinmos pc3200 that does 223mhz cl2 3 2 11 @2.9V. It mayb can go higher, but my motherboard didn't allowed it back then. (NF7 Rev.2)

Only tweakers / pc-enthousias who upgrade every 6 months should wait in my humble opinion. I have no problem recommending this setup to some-one who wants a fast and affordable pc. Most ppl upgrade after 4 years, not 4 months. :)

that means we should wait.
everybody here should wait :)
