As far as we're concerned, if we put everything together, Netgear provides one of the better routers currently available with the R7000 Nighthawk. It especially performs exceptionally well on 802.11ac and when under heavy loads, The other tests show it performs well in other areas too. The USB 3.0 port performed extremely well compared other routers. You could use the Nighthawk combined with an external hard drive as a poor man's NAS: 60 MB/s is about the speed you can expect from a low-end NAS. Something can be said for Netgear's apparent decision to make the basic settings accessible through the Genie software, while keeping the more advanced settings restricted to the less accessible web interface.
