MSI launches R4850-T2D512 Quad Pipe

MSI today unveils the MSI R4850-T2D512 graphics card with its own MSI Quad Pipe thermal design. It uses the MSI developed “Quad Pipe” thermal solution which can completely solve the high-temperature and overheat issue of ATI Radeon™ reference design. The MSI cooling solution is quiet, durable, good for overclocking and offers a number of amazing features.


High-efficiency thermal design
MSI R&D team tested the ATI Radeon™ HD 4850 reference design and found that although the gaming performance is excellent, the thermal efficiency of the reference design is not sufficient. Its temperatures at full loading and during standby, are very high. MSI has developed Quad Pipe thermal solution with a 2-slot design, four heatpipes of 6mm and a pure copper base and 33 high-density aluminium fins. Next to the quiet fan in the middle of the cooler, MSI R4850-T2D512 is also equipped with a fan and a large heatsink in the graphics memory and the power module to enhance its cooling performance. This overall cooling efficiency increases by 107%.

After intense testing, the temperature of MSI R4850-T2D512 Quad Pipe at full speed is 65% lower than the reference design! The temperature during stand-by is only half of the reference design.

The new MSI R4850-T2D512 Quad Pipe graphics card utilizes the latest ATI RV770 Pro GPU. With 800 stream processors and 512MB DDR3 graphics memory, it can support complex and delicate 3D processing It also supports ATI CrossFireX™ technology and PCI Express® 2.0 interface. MSI R4850-T2D512 Quad Pipe graphics card comes with advanced UVD 2.0 video decoder core, a built-in HDCP key encryption. This supports Blu-Ray movie disc broadcast and makes 100% complete hardware acceleration to MPEG-2/VC-1/H.264 video formats, significantly reducing CPU loading. UVD 2.0 can simultaneously decode even two videos in PIP (Picture-in-Picture) mode. In addition, MSI R4850-T2D512 Quad Pipe can deliver DVI-to-HDMI for HDMI output and supports 7.1 channel surround sound.
