More on Dell, Lenovo to offer Windows XP beyond June 30 cutoff

Users must select either "Genuine Windows® Vista Business BONUS" or "Genuine Windows® Vista Ultimate BONUS," for Dell to install Windows XP Professional. The computer will ship with a backup media disc for Windows XP Professional, as well as the media for Windows Vista for upgrade purposes (since the computer is licensed for that OS as well). Dell will provide technical support for both operating systems.

Although the company is taking a bit of a different approach, Lenovo has also decided to offer XP beyond Microsoft's cut-off date. Lenovo will ship Windows XP recovery CDs with "qualified" Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate systems. The XP recovery CDs will be available to those who have purchased the Business or Ultimate systems until January 31, 2009.

Looks like XP will be sticking around a good bit longer till 2010. A little odd now, because MS officially affirmed Windows 7 in 2009.
