Default Mid-Level PC Buying Guide

Searching for the perfect PC parts can be a daunting task. But if you are looking for a system that can handle today’s applications and games without having to take out a second mortgage, TechSpot’s Mid-Level PC Buying Guide is definitely for you.

Weighing performance and price evenly, the mid-level PC Guide gives you the best mix of today’s mid-range hardware and include some of the lowest prices on the net for your convenience. Then again mid-range does not mean we will recommend an average mainstream configuration, otherwise we would be better off sending you directly to the deals usually found at Dell or HP websites... if something is to remain constant across our buying guides is that we keep it at a very enthusiast level.

Mid tower recomended case X-Dream II

Cheap but very functional with a couple of simple mods, this case is good.

The Mods;
1) Enlarge / cut open the two front intake and installed meshed wire filter.
2) Reverted the clear window panel so that the side window fan hole is facing lower front of the case.
3) Add low RPM 80 mm fans to the front; back exhaust and top blower.
4) Get rid of the side panel fan and installed meshed wire filter over the hole.

Result - nicely ventilated / quiet case. The power supply is only good if you don't overclock.
