Memory Bandwidth vs. Latency Timings

if I get this right...
if you run your mem async lower with faster timings, then your pc will be faster then running it sync with lower timings even when the difference in memspeed is 50 mhz??

so if I put my 3.0 that runs 240 fsb on 5:4 and increase the timings (now it's at 3 4-4-8) I'll get the same power?

and if you find ram that can run that 240 @ 2, 2-5-2, will the increase at this speed be worthwhile?

You could try my mushkin level 2 if you didn't live at the other side of the country. ;)

coz that is what's important... running 1:1 at cas 3 4-8-4 at that speed could mean 1% with cas 2 2-5-2 or it could mean 5% which is a big difference

On my IS7:
240 1/1 6-3-3 cl2: 92xx mem marks
265 4/5 5-2-2 cl2: 10xxx mem marks

and 230 5-2-2 cas 2 versus 230 6-3-3 cas 2.5 and even 7-4-4 cas 3

please compare :)

i'll test it at 250 with a single stick twinmoss, and at 238 with 2 sticks mushkin tonight if i find some time :)

you should have the highest possible stable 2-5-2-cas2 overclock
dual channel and test it with 1:1, with 5:4 and with 1:1 cas 3 4-8-3, that would give us the most info on what to think of this whole situation...in 3dmark01 runs that'd take only 10 minutes tops
