Look out for 3TB enterprise hard drives from Seagate Seagate is developing a 3TB disk drive which could hit the market this year. According to people familiar with the company's plans, a 3TB Constellation ES drive with a 6Gbit/s SAS interface will arrive later this year. The Constellation ES is a replacement for the Barracuda ES and is, Seagate says, an enterprise class drive, currently maxing out at 2TB, and spinning at 7,200rpm. There is a 2.5-inch version which tops out at 500GB capacity. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/05/05/seagate_3tb/ |
