Intel Prices Its First 45nm Processor

DigiTimes reports that Intel's first 45nm processor will be a quad-core Core 2 Extreme and cost $999. Processor speed will be 3.33GHz on a 1333MHz FSB with 12MB L2 cache. In addition to the quad-core Core 2 Extreme processor, there will be two performance level quad-core processors adopting a 45nm process launched soon after, with both processors adopting a 1333 MHz FSB and 12MB L2 Cache. Another four 45nm dual-core processors (Wolfdale) will be launched in the first half of 2008.

that pricing implies they don't think they get pwned by Barcelona and that this will be the fastest chip on the block

Since when has Intel ever not priced their flagship CPU at $999 MSRP? :) Even back in the Netburst Northwood days with AMD Athlon64 hitting the streets and offering better performance at a better price with less heat they still sold the Extreme at $999.

3.33GHz is the Extreme, so 3GHz and 2.67GHz will be the two other Q4 parts... I would hope/guess $500-600 and $266-380 respectively?? If not then worst case the 2.67GHz Penryn would be $533.
