Intel To Launch Affordable SSD ? X25-X 40Gb - 175Mb/s Read & 35Mb/s Write

We stumbled upon Intel’s specification for a value SSD drive simply called X25-X and we can tell you that it aims for reading speeds of 170MB/s and write of more modest 35MB/s. For the operation the drive needs 90mW of power when it runs and 75 mW when it sits in idle mode. You can expect that read latency should be around 65 microseconds. The drive is supposed to bring competitive performance at a lower total cost of ownership. The X25M series still leads the way with its higher price, but it features 250MB/s read and 70MB/s write speeds.

Can't say I'm very eager to use this in a PC; sequential write speed does matter in some larger file transfer operations; if overall I/O performance remains high, it will still boost performance of your machine compared to a normal HDD. But if you do a lot of file copying, large transfer, you will notice the slow write speeds.
