What do you guys think about this CPU?

I'm interested in buying it as it has a high multiplier and will be very good overclockable. I now have the E2140, overclocked to 3.2 Ghz (100% OC), and it's a very good CPU I think for desktop apps. Also very cheap (40 €)
I think the E5200 will be quite cheap also!

However a 30Watt increase for 1.5Ghz overclock; is that normal?

Would this be a good gaming processor compared to the E8400 eg.?
What is the influence of much cache memory for games?

10% in games between 4 & 2mb cache, 4<>6mb difference is smaller

10% performance; that's quite a lot, don't you think?
So a E7200 would be a better choice, if you want to play games?

I'm basing this on test data with the old E6000 series; and it's only 2mb vs 4mb, best case scenario.

if this holds true for 45nm based C2D then I would go for 4Mb L2 CPU. The step from E2160 to E5200 in your case would not amount to much, unless you can squeeze an extra 400-500Mhz out of this CPU, but gunning for 3600-3700Mhz is a bit wishful thinking... who knows

I would say that's quite low given the Mhz increase and possible vcore
best to actually measure at the wall outlet the total usage before/after the upgrade to get the real number
