Intel DX48BT2 Motherboard Review

While the board was amenable to overclocking, the overclocking I was able to achieve on the CPU side was minimal at best. Using an E6300 Intel processor and an Asetek water cooling unit, I was able to get the CPU to a maximum speed of 2.27GHz, which translates to a modest 325MHz FSB with a 7x CPU multiplier. The board would not post at any FSB above 325MHz with this CPU installed. The memory speed is another story altogether. I was able to get the memory to an impressive 1300MHz with 9-9-9-28-2T timings, seen in conjunction with the CPU FSB of 325MHz. In order to overclock the board even to these minimal heights (CPU-wise at least), the board required 1.475V on the CPU, 1.94V on the DDR3 modules, 1.50V on the Northbridge and 1.550V on the Southbridge. I did also attempt to overclock the DX48BT2 using an Intel QX6850 CPU, with miserable results. The board would not even post with the quad-core CPU seated.
