Intel demos Robson caching at IDF

At the Intel Developer Forum last week, Intel showed off working examples of its Robson caching technology—and the results were impressive. Robson caching adds a chunk of flash memory to a PC and uses it to store information that has been prefetched from the hard drive. The goal of the system is to increase transfer speed, shorten boot times, and use less power, with a special focus on increasing the battery life of laptop computers. So far, the technology has sounded good on paper, but has had few real-world test drives.
