OC results from the reviews linked above:

HardOCP: We have proven here that the flurry of canned benchmarks based on timedemos showing huge gains with Core 2 processors are virtually worthless in rating the true gaming performance of these processors today. The fact of the matter is that real-world gaming performance today greatly lies at the feet of your video card. Almost none of today’s games are performance limited by your CPU. Maybe that will change, but given the trends, it is not likely. You simply do not need a $1000 CPU to get great gaming performance as we proved months ago in our CPU Scaling article.

Doc, did you see this benchmark with new RTS game "Rise of Legends" at Anandtech?

We ran with the resolution set to 1600 x 1200 and the graphics settings set to the medium defaults

:o

RichBa5tard 14th July 2006 10:37

That's frigging nuts...

seems the E6300 overclocking is not limited by the CPU , but by the chipset, as most motherboards have trouble reaching insane high FSB speeds to go with the low 7x multiplier of this CPU. X-Bit Labs has good a good read on that here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...o-e6300_8.html

The Senile Doctor 14th July 2006 14:13

massive...
it will weigh down at 1920*1200 but nevertheless it's massive...

jmke 14th July 2006 14:14

latest addition Firingsquad http://firingsquad.com/hardware/inte...2_performance/ shows benchies at 800x600 and 1600x1200 and higher (with Crossfire) - as you expect, games at 1600x1200 are GPU limited

RichBa5tard 14th July 2006 14:41

Still, a 50% overclock is not too shabby, even if it's rather chipset limited than processor limited.

maybe a next generation of highend gpu's in sli will require this sort of cpupower... and so the roundabout turns on and on forevermore...

Too Fast Too Furiuos

Rutar 15th July 2006 13:02

Intel needs to send me one for making that many people wait for it :(

jmke 15th July 2006 23:19

Intel needs to send me one too :)

piotke 16th July 2006 00:03

Shall I bike to them again and get you one ? :D

Accoring to my papers th processors should be available 30 days after release. If I understood it corretly, this would mean no conroe for the masses untel mid/end august.

goingpostale1 16th July 2006 06:19

Just when I upgraded to AM2 *sigh*

The Senile Doctor 16th July 2006 10:19

everybody knew what was coming, goingpostale1, so you should have waited a bit

FireTech 16th July 2006 12:03

OK, so where are the benchies comparing E6300 & E6600's against CPU's real people own: Like my old AMD64 3200+ ;)

SuAside 16th July 2006 13:23

i think i'm in love... :P

too bad i have to remind me time & time again that my current rig works well enough for everything i use it for. i was kinda amazed at how damn nicely Prey ran on my rig, even with the weak CPU. i gotta thank my 6800GT for that i suppose.

jmke 16th July 2006 17:37

E6300/E6600 samples not widely distributed it seems; E6700/X6800 mostly

Sidney 16th July 2006 17:47

Anandtech got the E6600 upto 4ghz with aircooling; seems to be the ONE :)

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2795&p=18

Rutar 16th July 2006 18:23

How does it run passive cooled under a Scythe Ninia?

Any Motherboards with 965 chipset that do not rip your wallet a new one?

edit: quick edit is way cool

Rutar 18th July 2006 00:57

I just read at SPCR that someone got the Conroe to 3500 Mhz with the Ninia passive.

woot

not quite, samples variance can be quite large, Piotke had two E6700, one did 3.8Ghz with phase change, the other did 4ghz on air...

E6300 review added
http://www.maxitmag.com/testing-bay/...-e6300-review/

OC'd to 2.8Ghz

duploxxx 26th July 2006 08:14

nice from maxitmag .. couple off 3d benchmarks and 2 games medium quality on 800x600 .... there conclusion is even better... price of an x2 3800 = 6300 yes for sure x2 3800 is 20% cheaper. what type of calculator do they use. one running on intel proc?

jmke 26th July 2006 08:54
