How to Securely Erase Your SSD Without Destroying It
 
So you've traded off a slower big storage solution for the increased speed of a smaller and much faster SSD and now you have managed to fill up your drive. So now what? Just like a standard mechanical HDD you can wipe the drive, but the procedure is a bit different with SSDs. Read on. Fortunately it is possible to erase most SSDs, though this is closer to a "reset" than a wipe. The "ATA Secure Erase" command instructs the drive to flush all stored electrons, forcing the drive to "forget" all stored data.
