How In-app Purchases Has Destroyed The Industry
 

I don't like writing negative articles that don't include a solution to the problem, but in this case, there is no solution. The state of in-app purchases has now reached a level where we have completely lost it. Not only has the gaming industry shot itself in the foot, hacked off their other foot, and lost both its arms ... but it's still engaging in a strategy that will only damage it further.

Why are these gaming studios so intent of killing themselves?

Forza and GT6 are prime example of that, buy a $60 game. And you still need to pay more if you want have access to more tracks/cars. just playing the game requires hundreds of hours to reach that goal.


Their Dungeon Keeper example is spot on.

Same damn upsetting thing with GRID 2 and MANY, MANY others; you buy the game and afterwards you find out that many cars are missing and can only be had in-game after buying additional DLCs...milking cows anyone? It is like buying a car without any accessories at all, this really sucks! And I have seen they have another brand new idea now...at the end of the year they sell you the same game but with all DLCs included; the previous owners of the game without DLCs have to buy it all over again....
