Hertz ditches electric cars Unreliable and cost too much to repair Rental giant Hertiz is flogging 20,000 EVs after losing millions to Tesla's price cuts. Hertz has decided to dump a third of its electric cars, totalling around 20,000 vehicles, and buy more petrol-powered motors instead. The rental giant has been bleeding money from its electric fleet, bosses have admitted, because they cost a fortune to fix and lose value fast. Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr moaned in a recent call with analysts that collision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle. And EV price drops in the new car market have slashed the resale value of Hertz's used EV rental cars. https://fudzilla.com/news/automotive...-electric-cars |
