![]() | ![]() While we joke often about Google's addiction to launching products in beta that stay in beta, one exception that must be noted is Google Desktop. When launched in October of 2004, Google Desktop Search (as it was called then) was already fairly polished, although some people found Outlook integration to be problematic. Nevertheless, the application graduated to a full 1.0 release in March of this year, but in only a few short months it would return to beta status when Google added the Sidebar to the mix. Today, Google Desktop is a mature 2.0. Sans beta. Aside from graduating to full release, Google added some new features to the mix http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20051103-5526.html
